pareh fishing or spread out fishing net is one of the oldest methods of catching bony fish, including white fish, in the southern margin of the Caspian Sea (Guilan and Mazandaran provinces), which is several hundred years old.
According to some evidence, this type of fishing was invented in Bandar Anzali city and gradually spread to other areas of the southern shore of the Caspian Sea.
In this method, a net head, which is usually 100 meters long and 7-10 meters high, is bent in the sea by a large wooden boat in the shape of the letter U, and the end head returns to the shore with a distance of about one hundred meters from the initial point. The diameter of the holes of the net is the size that catches only the adult fish and therefore they are very strong in maintaining the biological resources and children. (between 30 and 40 mm). After some time, the net is pulled into the beach from its end by the power of the tractor and it is collected. As a result, they trapped fish inside the net, which are directed to the shore and collected by fishermen.
In the old days, pulling and gathering the net was done by fishermen with the help of animals, and fishermen create a special cohesion and enthusiasm by singing local poems. But this work is done by the mechanical power of the tractor.
The bony fish fishing season in the Caspian Sea lasts for 6 months and starts from the middle of October every year and continues until the middle of April of the following year. Fishing in the sea is prohibited in the spring due to the spawning of bony fishes and in order to preserve the resources of the sea. Fishermen usually celebrate the beginning of the fishing season.
