Hotel MARCO POLO - Hammamet, Tunisia - September 2025

We spent two amazing weeks at the Marco Polo Hotel (end of August 2025), even though our first impression at the reception was really bad and stressful. The front desk staff seemed spoiled, lazy, indifferent, and not very polite. Honestly, they acted like tourists were a bother. One guy, I think his name was Taieb, was particularly rude and sarcastic. After waiting for two hours, he gave us a room that was already occupied! Then after another 20 minutes, we got a room for 14 nights – but with a "lovely" view of a giant restaurant roof. I asked for the tip back that I had left in the passport and demanded to speak with the manager. Three hours after arriving, we finally got a room with a nice port view. So yes – it is possible to do things right.
After that rocky start, the vacation was absolutely wonderful.
The hotel is really good overall, although it could use a little refreshing here and there. The pool is 7-star quality, and the beach and sea access are solid 5 stars. Food was abundant and delicious – a great selection of meats, veggies, fish, and shrimp. Wine and beer on tap were available without limits during lunch and dinner. Everything was well seasoned and beautifully served – except for the sushi, which looked like sushi but didn’t taste like it at all.
The animation team was always energetic and helpful. Every evening there were great shows and dancing – the entertainers truly deserve praise.
The rooms were cleaned daily, nothing fancy, but honestly – who cares? It's vacation!
Most people spoke French and English. Only a few Russian-speaking families were around. Surprisingly, a loud and rude British family from London filled the usual stereotype. Drunk from morning to night, acting like they owned the place, and being disrespectful to everyone around the pool. Just mentally exhausting. After I complained, security brought them back down to earth quickly. You always get some troublemakers.
The swim-up bar was awesome, and the bartender Aymen Manix was always smiling and friendly. There were no pushy sellers or staff constantly expecting tips. You can exchange money at the reception. Wi-Fi is available almost everywhere, but the connection often drops.
The bars don’t skimp on alcohol, but to be honest – besides the wine, beer, and gin, the rest tastes like gasoline.
City tax for 10 nights/2 people was €72. Shops in Hammamet are just a few hundred meters away.
Overall, our stay was amazing, and we definitely recommend Marco Polo.

Spędziliśmy w hotelu Marco Polo dwa wspaniałe tygodnie (koniec sierpnia 2025), choć pierwszy kontakt z recepcją był zły i nerwowy. Widać, że pracownicy recepcji są zmanierowani, leniwi, obojętni i mało uprzejmi. Wyraźnie przeszkadzają im turyści. Jeden z nich, chyba Taieb był bezczelny i złośliwy. Po 2 godzinach czekania dał nam pokój, który był zajęty. Zdziwiony, po kolejnych 20 minutach, gdy dostaliśmy pokój na 14 dni z widokiem TYLKO na wielki dach restauracji, kazałem mu oddać tipa, który dostał w paszporcie i poprosiłem o interwencję managera. Po 3 godzinach od wejścia do hotelu mogliśmy w końcu rozpakować się w pokoju z widokiem na port. Można? Można. Później był już uroczy wypoczynek. Hotel bardzo dobry, choć wymaga małej kosmetyki. Basen na 7 gwiazdek, plaża i wejście do morza na 5 gwiazdek. Posiłki na bogato, bardzo duży wybór mięs, warzyw, ryb i krewetek. Do obiadów i kolacji wino i piwo z beczki bez ograniczeń. Wszystko doskonale doprawione i podane, za wyjątkiem sushi, które poza kształtem, nic z prawdziwym sushi nie miało wspólnego. Animatorzy zawsze pomocni i pełni energii. Każdego wieczoru świetne przedstawienia i tańce. Wszyscy bez wyjątku zasługują na najwyższe uznanie. Pokoje sprzątane codziennie, choć bez szału. Ale po co? Przecież są wakacje. Przeważa język francuski i angielski. Rosyjsko języcznych było tylko kilka rodzin. Znanych z prostackich manier Rosjan z powodzeniem zastąpiła rodzina anglików z Londynu. Od rana do wieczora pijani, niegrzeczni, opryskliwi, nie liczący się z innymi turystami odpoczywającymi przy basenie. Po prostu biedni intelektualnie. Na moją interwencję „królowie świata” zostali sprowadzeni do parteru przez ochronę. Zawsze trafi się jakieś patologia. Bar w basenie super i do tego wciąż uśmiechnięty i życzliwie przyjazny barman Aymen Manix. Nie ma natrętnych sprzedawców i personelu czyhającego tylko na napiwki. Wymienić pieniądze można w recepcji. Internet jest prawie wszędzie, ale często się zrywa. Bary nie oszczędzają na alkoholu, choć oprócz wina, piwa i ginu reszta smakuje jak benzyna. Podatek klimatyczny za 10 dni/2 osoby to €72. Kilkaset metrów do sklepów w Hammamet.

Pobyt wspaniały, Marco Polo jest warty polecenia.
