In a tragic incident, 20-year-old Indian doctoral student Shivank Avasthi was shot dead near the University of Toronto's Scarborough campus. India Today Gobal's Editor Pranay Upadhyaya reports that the Toronto Police are investigating the case as a homicide after Avasthi was found with gunshot wounds on Tuesday afternoon. The Indian Consulate in Toronto has expressed 'deep anguish' and is assisting the bereaved family. Upadhyay also highlights the recent murder of another Indian national, Himanshi Khurana, raising serious concerns about the safety of Indians in Canada. Police have yet to identify a motive or suspect in Avasthi's killing.
