How to Set Goals in Jiu Jitsu to have Longevity and Progress.
1. Make sure goals are reasonable and are 100% in your control.
2. Types of goals, short term and long term.
Short term goal examples:
-Train 3 classes per week.
-Finish a class with no breaks.
-Rep the technique of the day 5x after class.
Long Term Goals examples:
-Health Fitness / Weight loss
-Sign up and prepare for a competition.
-Take notes of techniques or training after class.
3. Tips for Success:
-Write down goals in a place you see everyday.
-Make yourself verbally accountable. Tell your goal to someone you trust and honor your word.
-Make goal time bound.
-Do not make stripes and belts your "goals". These are not 100% in your control. The stripes and belts will naturally happen when you focus on short term and long term goals.
-Spend time with others that are pursuing positive goals. You will push each other and support each other on the long road of the jiu jitsu journey.
