When Dave Palmer and Steve Morrell fled the collapsing halls of the Glimmerlight, they crossed the thresholds of the old world and journeyed to the British Isles, carrying only their synths and the faint glow of their Blue Crystals. There, amid mist-shrouded coasts and ancient standing stones, they formed the Sagegazer duo River of Dreams. Their early days were marked by a quiet a longing to return to the Glimmerlight even as they both knew its chambers had fallen into silence forever. In that liminal state between grief and hope, they recorded their 1986 cassette Return Journey, a work steeped in the pull of a home that no longer existed and the echo of paths that could not be retraced.

Accepting this, Palmer and Morrell turned inward, channeling the shimmer of their Blue Crystals through circuits and keys, bending their sound into a new direction for the Patchoulilight. What emerged was their masterpiece, Vision of Change, a cassette reflecting that the only way forward was reinvention. Its harmonics marked the moment River of Dreams released their longing and stepped into their role as architects of a future that might actually thwart the Progbarians.
