山口県岩国市の岩国城は、1608年に初代藩主・吉川広家によって築かれた山城で、標高約200mの山頂に建つ城からは、岩国市街や錦帯橋、周囲の山々までを一望できます。現在の天守は1962年に復元されたもので、天守内には、展望台や錦帯橋の精密模型、写真、刀剣や書画類などが展示されており、2006年に日本100名城(74番)に選定されました。天守までは、錦帯橋近くにある吉香公園前の山麓駅から、岩国城がある山頂駅までロープウェイを利用する事もでき、山頂駅から徒歩約10分で到着します。

Iwakuni Castle in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, is a mountain castle built in 1608 by the first feudal lord, Yoshikawa Hiroie. Built on a mountaintop about 200 meters above sea level, the castle offers a panoramic view of Iwakuni city, Kintai Bridge, and the surrounding mountains. The current castle tower was restored in 1962, and within the tower are exhibits such as an observation deck, a detailed model of Kintai Bridge, photographs, swords, calligraphy, and paintings. In 2006, it was selected as one of Japan's 100 Great Castles (number 74). To get to the castle tower, you can take the ropeway from Sanroku Station in front of Yoshika Park near Kintai Bridge to Sancho Station, where Iwakuni Castle is located, and it is about a 10-minute walk from Sancho Station.
