PALAK DAL RECIPE (Spinach Lentil Curry)
⭐ Ingredients
1 cup toor dal (or moong dal)
2 cups chopped spinach (palak)
1 tomato (chopped)
4–5 garlic cloves (chopped)
1–2 green chilies (slit)
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tbsp ghee or oil
Salt to taste
Water as needed
⭐ Instructions
Cook the Dal
Wash dal well and pressure cook with turmeric, salt, and water (2.5 cups). Cook for 3–4 whistles.
Prepare the Tempering (Tadka)
Heat ghee/oil → add mustard seeds → cumin → garlic → green chilies → onions → sauté till golden.
Add Tomatoes & Spices
Add tomatoes, red chilli powder, and salt. Cook until tomatoes soften.
Add Spinach
Add chopped palak and cook 3–4 minutes until it shrinks.
Mix With Dal
Pour cooked dal into the pan, mix well, and simmer 5 minutes.
Serve
