The Living Catchments Programme (LCP), led by SANBI, continues to support and grow partnerships for learning across landscapes and District Municipalities. It integrates Indigenous knowledge systems into land and water management practices to strengthen biodiversity objectives, develop new skills, and contribute to social justice and economic development. By restoring degraded ecosystems, the programme enhances ecological integrity, connectivity, and community resilience.
This session will showcase on-the-ground catchment restoration initiatives that unite traditional leaders, communities, academics, professionals, and businesses to address shared challenges. Together, these efforts protect biodiversity while helping stabilise the eroding livelihoods of rural communities.
