With his label Don't Be Afraid, UK producer Benji Roth – aka Semtek and DJ Persuasion – has spent the past 15 years joining the dots between club scenes in Bristol, Detroit and beyond. With releases from the likes of rRoxymore, Mr Beatnick, Ikonika and Karen Gwyer, DBA has become a staple of underground dance music.
As Roth returns with new EP Four More Dubs, we visited him in the studio to talk about the history of the label, his top production tips, and what he looks for in a demo.
