Some works are too much a product of their culture or times to find easy translation to another language. Others might rely on a different set of audience expectations around narrative structure or pacing. In some cases, these differences are only a challenge the translator has to tackle, with a work that can broaden audience understanding as the reward. How do you tell the difference, and how do you know when there's just too much to "translate?"
