Spinach Dal is nutritious and very comforting food. It is made of lentil, spinach and other spices. It is staple food in South India but enjoyed all over India. It is also known as Dal palak. It can be served with Roti/Naan, Rice, or can be eaten as is like a soup. It is full of Protein, Iron, Fiber and is very delicious.
Ingredients for Spinach Dal
Washed Toor Dal: 1 and 1/4 cups
Roughly chopped onion: 3/4 cup
Roughly chopped tomatoes: 1 cup
Roughly chopped Garlic: 6-7 Cloves
Roughly chopped Palak (Spinach): 2 cups
Salt: 1/2 Tsp
Ingredients for seasoning
Pressure cooked dal
Oil: 1 Tbsp
Rai (Mustard seeds): 1 Tsp
Jeera (Cumin seeds): 1 Tsp
Chana Dal (split Bengal lentil): 2 Tsp
Urad Dal (Black lentil): 2 Tsp
Hing (Asafoetida): 1/4 Tsp
Haldi (Turmeric powder): 1/2 Tsp
Salt: 1/2 Tsp or as per taste
Imli water (Tamarind water): 2 Tsp
(instead of tamarind water, can use 1 Tsp of lemon/lime juice)
Green Chili: 4: slit in half
Curry leaves: 8-10 leaves
