For a recent episode of A Whole New Level, Levels Advisor Dr. Robert Lustig talks about how you can tell whether you are healthy. You can learn two key things about your current metabolic health state from wearing a continuous glucose monitor (CGM).
The higher your glucose (blood sugar) goes on a CGM after eating, the less insulin reserve you have. A lower insulin reserve indicates that your beta cells in the pancreas may not be functioning as well as they should.
How long your glucose stays elevated after eating can indicate the presence of insulin resistance. The longer glucose stays elevated, the more insulin resistance you may have.
