Academics David Shinn and Jamie Monson discuss foreign affairs and diplomacy in Africa. Shinn, Adjunct Professor at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, compares the United States and China in terms of their interactions with Africa and details the tactics each country uses to further implement relations with African countries. Monson, Professor of History at Carleton College, discusses a case study from the 1960s describing early period China-Africa relations and talks about African women delegates' visits to China. Last, the speakers address questions from the audience concerning future relations of the United States and China with Africa and the differences with regards to economic aid provided by each country.
