Most people don’t fail because they’re inconsistent.
They fail because they choose goals that match the person they already are.
And that version of them is the reason they’re stuck.
DEMANDING Greatness Daily - Day 656
Day 26 of 126 to Greatness - Phase 6
One of the biggest problems with social media today isn’t misinformation.
It’s lack of nuance.
Everything is boiled down to soundbites.
Clickbait clips.
Extreme takes designed to get attention, not understanding.
And I’ll put my hand up, I’ve played that game too.
A short clip gets taken out of a long conversation and suddenly it’s:
“Toxic masculinity.”
“Extreme views.”
“Out of touch.”
When the reality is far more nuanced.
This episode came from a conversation about fitness, discipline, and consistency, and why comfortable consistency is one of the biggest lies in self-improvement.
Yes, consistency matters.
It’s non-negotiable.
But here’s the part no one wants to talk about:
If you base your goals on what the current version of you finds doable…
You will never become someone better.
That version of you hasn’t built the life you want.
Hasn’t earned the body you want.
Hasn’t created the meaning you’re chasing.
So why are you letting that version decide the standard?
This is why “small changes” and “easy wins” fail so many people.
Seven-minute workouts.
Soft challenges.
Watered-down effort that feels good, but delivers nothing.
You stay the same person.
You get the same results.
And eventually, you quit.
Real change requires discomfort.
It requires biting off more than you can chew.
It requires rejecting what feels “reasonable” to the person you are right now.
Not recklessly.
Not blindly.
But deliberately.
You don’t grow by staying comfortable.
You don’t grow by maintaining.
There is no neutral, only growth or decline.
I share why even after 650+ days of discipline, it’s easy to get comfortable… and why comfort is always the beginning of regression.
Why the gym is the perfect metaphor for life.
Why “consistency” without progression is wasted effort.
And why the version of you that got you here must die if you want more.
This isn’t a 30-second clip conversation.
It’s a deeper one.
And it matters.
So the question is simple:
Are you willing to let go of what feels achievable right now…
To reach for the version of yourself you know you’re capable of?
If you want support, structure, and people who won’t let you stay comfortable

Bite off more.
Get uncomfortable.
Figure it out.
That’s how real change happens.
