This Alaskan Valley Has it All - Camping, Glaciers, and Trout Fishing!

Jenny and I embarked on a trip to Portage Valley in Alaska and camped with our RV. We found a very nice spot by a small lake that was stocked with rainbow trout. While there, we did a 2.2 mile hike to Byron Glacier, and while the mosquitoes were insane, we were rewarded with some AMAZING glacier views! After hiking Byron Glacier, we went through the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel (aka, the Whittier Tunnel) to Whittier, Alaska to explore. We checked out the Buckner Building, which is an old abandoned World War II building, checked out the marina and all the boats, and checked out Begich Towers, which is home to most of the 200 residents of Whittier - all in one building! When we got back to camp, we cooked some good food over the fire, and I did some fly fishing for trout on the kayak. Unfortunately, around 9:30pm, a group of rowdy and aggressive people came in and we didn't feel safe, so we packed up and left. Despite that, all in all, it was an amazing trip!
