👉 In this DIY tutorial, you'll learn how to age a clay pot using simple faux finish painting techniques with a sponge!
Visit www.DesignerStencils.com to browse our large selection of stencils and accessories!
1️⃣ Follow along or get some ideas. You'll need a crumpled-up plastic bag for the base coat and a sponge to add green on top. Dampen your sponge with water then mostly dry before sponging paint onto your pot. Sponge in organic patterns to replicate the way that moss grows. After you add different shades of green, lightly sponge some white on top or some green.
2️⃣ Next, you'll want to get a piece of coarse sandpaper. Rub the sandpaper against the surface of your pot. Take off a few layers of paint until the terracotta pot becomes visible, lending a distressed & aged look to your pot.
3️⃣ Finally, you'll want to prep your stencil by using Repositionable Spray Adhesive on the back before pressing it flat against your pot. On a curved surface, you'll want to affix the center of your stencil before pressing it against the surrounding areas.
