In this documentary, we travel from Sogut (1299) to Constantinople (1453), from the rise of the Janissaries to the brutal politics of the palace, from Selim I’s eastern storm and the transfer of the Caliphate (1517) to Suleiman the Magnificent’s golden age and then into the slow, painful decline: court conspiracies, the “Cage” system, the printing press ban, military decay, nationalism and the label that haunted Istanbul: ‘The Sick Man of Europe.’

We then reach the final act: Abdul Hamid II, the Young Turks, World War I, Gallipoli, the Arab Revolt, Sykes-Picot and the moment that ended a 1,300-year-old institution - the abolition of the Caliphate (3 March 1924).

And finally, we ask the question that is still relevant today: Do empires truly die? Or do they live on as ghosts in our borders, politics and psychology?
