Marianne Khoury on the 6th Panorama's film education panel and MEDIMAGES
"Schools will be present to develop this new idea of using film as an educational tool"
Events and Festivals, Egypt
Film education has always been a priority for the Panorama of the European Film in Cairo, a festival founded in 2004 by Marianne Khoury, managing partner of Misr International Films.
But this year, the festival's Cinema and Education section has become a very special event, says Khoury. It is "more sophisticated because we have new partners like MEDIMAGES, the Anna Lindh Foundation, MEDIS as well as the British Council."
"The main theme is 'using cinema as a tool for education' and we are therefore inviting many teachers. We have almost 50 teachers from different schools in Cairo -- international schools, language schools, public schools -- who will attend our event to develop this maybe new idea of using film as a tool for education."
The film education project MEDIMAGES, co-funded by the Anna Lindh Foundation and implemented by the MEDIS network, is to offer numerous film screenings for children and teenagers, as well as a two-day workshop for dedicated teachers interested in film education on November 30 and December 1.
