Data Compression (Summer 2020) - Lecture 11 - DEFLATE (gzip)

During the pandemic I started pre-recording lectures for my courses (and using the live sessions for exercises).

These videos were made just like in-person lectures: in one sitting, with no breaks, no script, no editing and no expectation of ever being used again. They definitely were not intended to withstand the test of time, but just in case, here they are.

All of the pre-recorded lectures on this channel were made in a hurry, but that is especially obvious here. This video was recorded in one take (while the class was writing a midterm), and the slides were barely finished (you can see several glaring errors in the formatting and content). On the other hand, the topic of this lecture (the DEFLATE bitstream) is really important, and not very well documented elsewhere.
