Set in the soulful Turkish Rast makam, this piece is based on one of Sami Yusuf’s most cherished poems by Rumi — a timeless reflection on the journey of transformation and the profound truth that true life is found in love alone.

What makes Alive particularly special is that it incorporates Rumi’s full-length poem in the original Persian — a rare and powerful tribute to the poet’s unabridged words. These verses are presented alongside exquisite Turkish and English translations, enriching the piece with layers of meaning and beauty.

This heartfelt work was brought to life by the remarkable talents of master musicians from Turkey, Iran, and the UK, with the powerful voices of a distinguished choir from Azerbaijan — and with the invaluable contributions of countless others whose dedication and expertise made this piece possible.
