Make a Dream Sketchbook From Scratch! | Coptic Binding

I’d been looking for a watercolour sketchbook with paper I like for quite a while but just couldn’t find anything, so I thought why not make my own. In this video I walk you through the whole process, from cutting and folding the pages to stitching the spine by hand, turning two large sheets of A1 watercolour paper into a travel size sketchbook using the Coptic binding method — a beautiful way to create your own sketchbook that lays flat.
This is a great, meditative project if you want your own tailor-made place to keep your paintings, sketches, or doodles.
Materials used:
A1 watercolour paper (cold press)
Bone folder, awl, waxed thread, binding needle
Cutting mat, ruler
Optional covers (I used the back of an old sketch pad)
