While the EU is often perceived as being at the forefront of gender equality issues, reproductive justice, and in particular access to abortion, has been the blind spot within the EU – until recently. In the aftermath of the US Supreme Court decision in Dobbs in 2022, several Member States, EU institutional actors and civil society organisations have engaged with the future of abortion in the EU, and the limits of EU law and policy.
In this webinar, speakers engage with the different aspects of issues around access to abortion and reproductive justice globally, bringing comparative insights from their jurisdictions to the analysis of the situation in the EU, and collectively reflecting on what a robust legal framework for reproductive justice might look like.
This conversation is urgent in a context in which access to abortion is globally under threat around the world, and we are witnessing the normalisation of transnational political agendas aiming squarely at curtailing reproductive rights across jurisdictions.
