Thu Bulgarian split squat is an amazing exercise for developing conditioning, general strength, and single leg stability. It is a superb alternative to both squats and lunges, and a great way to build up to the pistol squat. It is easily loadable, and for those of us who primarily train with calisthenics, it offers a flexible platform from which to start increasing intensity to build up to harder single leg movements.
I love this with a weight vest for high reps. It provided an amazing conditioning effect that I’ve found very useful for biking, hiking, and running.
