Excerpts of Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria in D Major, performed on Easter Sunday, 2016. The text of the Gloria is an exultant hymn of praise to the Creator in the language and cosmology of Italy in the 1700s. The jubilant first movement echoes the song of the angels in Luke chapter 2: "Glory to God in the highest," and the second continues the sentiment, "Et in terra pax...and on earth, peace to those of good will."
