Section 8 Applicant Refuses Home Visit: What Happened

Home visits are usually one of the more fun parts of my working day. Tenants are typically happy to show me how clean and well they live. They also enjoy showing me the slumlord issues they are having. I enjoy seeing that because it makes me feel great about how much better our houses are! By the time I’ve gotten to the house, I’ve been talking with the applicant and I’ve run their background check so I have a good idea about them.

This home visit was not like that at all! I’m not at all thick skinned and top that with not sleeping well due to the stress of finishing up my course for sale, I was not prepared to be yelled at on someone’s front porch. This is not NORMAL for me at all. But it’s a lesson in why we do best when we manage our own houses.
