It's impossible not to be a foodie when you live in Vietnam and you'll do just about anything to sniff out a new gem, which is exactly what I do in this series. In Part 1, I set off on a 10km (or so, maybe more) walk at 7am in the morning in search of tasty little finds down buzzing thoroughfares and narrow alleyways, nestled deep inside sleepy off-the-beaten-trail neighbourhoods that tourists rarely, if ever, explore. In Part 2, I pressed on, finally crossing the border between District 7 and District 8 which led me straight to one of my all-time favourite markets in Saigon. And finally, in Part 3, I cross over into District 5 or "Chinatown" as it's often called, but not before I introduce you to a street in District 8 that's home to some tasty morsels that will have me coming back!

The street in District 8 with the tasty bánh bao chiên (fried dumplings) and the incredible bánh xếp chiên (empanadas) is called Hưng Phú Street. It's best to visit in the early morning or late afternoon from 4pm! Hit up if you need exact locations.
If you're coming to Saigon and wondering what to do, check out my walk through Chinatown. It's great for solo travellers and small groups of friends and family. All I ask in return is that you let me know how it went! Check it out here: https://open.substack.com/pub/thebure...
