S1 E21: Lost in the Dark! Thakhek Loop & Kong Lor Cave

After one of the hardest days of our journey, battling extreme heat, dehydration, and Tilly (our motorcycle) overheating, we finally made it back to civilization. Water. Food. Rest. We needed it all before continuing our epic motorcycle ride on the Thakhek Loop, one of the most famous motorbike routes in Laos!
🏍️ What makes the Thakhek Loop special?
This 450 km route winds through jaw-dropping limestone karsts, hidden villages, waterfalls, and some of the best off-road tracks in Laos. But the real highlight? The legendary Kong Lor Cave – a mind-blowing, 7.5 km-long cave that you can only explore by boat!
We had to leave Tilly behind and climb into a tiny wooden boat, trusting only our guide's headtorch and instincts to navigate the pitch-black abyss. But then – BAM! The boat hit a rock and got STUCK. In total darkness. With the sound of water rushing all around us. Would we make it out?
Eventually, we freed ourselves and emerged on the other side – a stunning hidden valley called Natane, where we refuelled with some... buffalo soup?! Definitely a new experience! After that, it was back through the cave, reuniting with Tilly, and gearing up for whatever comes next on this wild ride.
