India Tests 120 Km Pinaka Rocket As Army Clears Induction In Major DRDO Breakthrough

India has taken a major step forward in strengthening its long-range strike capabilities. The Defence Research and Development Organisation has successfully conducted the maiden flight test of the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket with a strike range of 120 kilometres. The test was carried out at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha, and saw the rocket hit its designated target with textbook precision.

Significantly, the trial was conducted on the same day the Defence Acquisition Council cleared the system for induction into the Indian Army, underscoring confidence in the programme. Fired from an in-service Pinaka launcher, the test demonstrated the system’s ability to deploy multiple Pinaka variants from the same platform.

Developed by DRDO laboratories in collaboration, the Pinaka system is known for its rapid response, accuracy, and battlefield flexibility. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called the long-range guided rocket a game-changer for India’s armed forces. With export orders already secured and growing global interest, Pinaka continues to strengthen India’s push for defence self-reliance and global competitiveness.
