This repair calls for 5 hours with a level "B" technical ability. BMW wanted $700+ for this repair.
Oil was leaking on exhaust manifold, where the oxygen sensor is and smelled bad, smoking as well.
Since this has a rubber gasket, I recommend you try to snug the valve cover bolts first. They can only be tightened down so far, because of the sleeves around the bolts.
All of the bolts require an inverted Torx socket, but regular sockets fit and were easily removed with a small 1/4" ratchet. The exception being the larger bolts on the rear engine brace, where I was able to use a 12 pt 14mm socket.
Be sure to remove the 4" diameter part on the back of the motor, directly below the valve cover as it goes through the valve cover and you will break the plastic valve cover if you pry on it without removing this part. It requires a regular T30 torx bit and I could only fit my small 1/4" ratchet, since it is up against the firewall.
You will also need to remove the 2 cam sensors on the front of the valve cover, as well as the fuel regulator valve on the top of the valve cover.
I mentioned in the video, the connectors on the injectors, but they are actually on the spark plug coils. These spark plug coils are easily removed by gently rotating, while pulling straight up, with your hand, in case you want to go ahead and replace the spark plugs, while you have everything torn down.
Everything went together much quicker than the 2 1/2 hours taking it apart and my total repair time was about 4 1/2 hours.
Good Luck!
