Visiting Elephant Nature Park Chiang Mai | An Honest Look at Ethical Tourism

I finally visited the famous Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai — but not without some hesitation. I’ve always had mixed feelings about animal tourism, and in this video, I share my honest thoughts about the ethics of visiting elephant sanctuaries in Thailand.

What I found at the Elephant Nature Park made me pleased to see. There was no riding, bathing, or forced interactions — just rescued elephants living freely, well cared for, and respected. I know everyone has different opinions on what is and what is not ethical, but for me, I was comfortable that the Elephant Nature Park cared more about the animals than the tourists (as it should be).

Also, as someone with mobility challenges at the moment, I was also grateful for the team’s kindness and accessibility options, including a golf buggy to make sure I didn’t miss a thing. So the Elephant Nature Park is a great option for people with disabilities looking for activities to do whilst in Chiang Mai. Just drop them an email before booking and they will assist you.
