Alyssa Aska - (toe)looping+REP (2025) for fixed media

This piece is created entirely from a single 3-second audio clip—the sound of figure skater Mikhail Shaidorov (KAZ) landing a quad toe loop-triple toe loop (4T-3T) combination at the Cup of China 2023. No additional recordings, synthesized sounds, or external elements were used—only transformations of that singular ice sound.

This is a follow-up to an earlier piece that I created with the same sample, but with understanding of how to do different video effects that I had hoped to do with the first video but couldn't. I chose this audio clip because the jump was performed at a near perfect silence in the music and it happened to be place on a part of the ice where the mic really picked up the sound well.

I would love to create more pieces like this, but finding clips is difficult. There is a lot of practice footage and personal videos that have beautiful sound, but I would never use them without permission.
