Away for a month | The good, bad and the ugly

Leaving our homestead for a month comes with several challenges, including animal care, garden tending and property maintenance. It is a big task for the two of us in the summer to keep up, but our friend did a great job taking care of our place (while working more than full-time). It was a challenging summer due to a record drought and heatwave in southern Ontario. To add insult to injury, a few days before we arrived home, there was a 24-hour power outage and predator problems.
We had a great garlic harvest, and despite the drought, the garden still shows promise, so all is not lost (and we are praying for rain).
We are grateful to our friend for taking such good care of our animals and homestead, and look forward to our next adventure!
