One Of A Kind Exciting Big Band Drum Solo

As the drummer leader of my Ken Loomer Big Band, it`s important for me to always play at 110% to drive the Big Band to support my fellow musicians. When it`s my turn to do a solo, I want my drum solo to be exciting and tell a story. I start out slowly and use lots of dynamic`s to build on what I want to say on the drums. At one point it`s just all cymbals and I bring the volume down. That way I know the people will listen and watch what I`m doing and from hearing them react to my playing, they enjoyed it very much. Then I keep on building the solo and end with my big finish and bring in the Big Band. I`m playing on my classic 1971 Slingerland Buddy Rich drum set which has the best sounding drums I have ever heard. All drums are tuned wide open for that natural full tone. With the type of drum technique that I have learned, these drums project the sound of what I`m playing so well. I have learned from all the master Big Band drummers like Buddy Rich, Sonny Payne, Louie Bellson, Ed Shaughnessy, Gene Krupa, and Jeff Hamilton who always give 100% in everything they play.
