This is the famous jazz standard John Coltrane song "Giant Steps". When doing these very up tempo jazz cymbal ride beat for a long time, I use just my wrist. I play very relaxed and never tense up. I`m using my Gretsch Catalina Jazz kit with the 18 inch bass drum, 8x12 tom, 14x14 floor tom and 5x14 snare. My ride cymbal is a 70`s A Zildjian medium which you can clearly hear project so well. On piano is Mark Moultrup and on bass is Hiram Hazly. Always fun to do some trio jazz and play these great jazz standards like Giant Steps.
