Creating a picture in fabric art, like all art, starts with composition. What do you want to show, how can you have it placed to better improve your design. Colour and balance and choosing what is best for you to do and making it your truly personal design that is in the style or colour that speaks to you best. I have taken a piece of fabric that I have sun-dyed with a doily on top, and that is the background, but it is what you add that brings this rather dark colouring to life.
