FROG Testchip Bringup

The FROG testchip (First Reconfigurable Open-source Gate-array) is a modern FPGA fabric demonstrator fully designed with the OpenFPGA methodology.

OpenFPGA is an open-source FPGA IP generator supporting highly-customizable heterogenous FPGA architectures. OpenFPGA provides a full set of EDA support for customized FPGAs, including Verilog-to-bitstream generation and self-testing verification. OpenFPGA opens the door to democratizing FPGA technology and EDA techniques, with agile prototyping approaches and constantly evolving EDA tools for chip designers and researchers. OpenFPGA is primarily supported by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) under the Electronics Resurgence Initiative.

FROG was manufactured by GLOBALFOUNDRIES under the DoD Trusted Foundry program, and is yet another proof of the relevance of open-source silicon technologies.
