Fire & Fury Corps observes the 63rd Rezang La Day on 18 November 2025, paying solemn tribute to the unparalleled courage and supreme sacrifice of the soldiers of 13 KUMAON who fought gallantly during the 1962 Indo-China War.
The Battle of Rezang La remains an epic chapter in the annals of Indian military history, symbolizing the unyielding resolve and tenacity of those who stood as the final bulwark in defence of the nation. The commemoration period, spanning 14 to 18 November, was dedicated to rekindling the flame of patriotism and imparting the heroic legacy of the Rezang La bravehearts to the next generation. Key activities included a painting and essay competition engaging school children across the Leh and Ladakh regions, centered on themes celebrating the Indian Army and the rich culture of the region. To deepen the bond with the local population and ensure broad-based community participation, a series of pre-commemoration events were successfully conducted for the individuals of Chushul and Tsaga villages. This included painting and archery competitions held on 14 November, followed by a comprehensive medical camp and a spirited cricket match between local community teams on 15 November. The spirit of endurance was celebrated with the Rezang La Commemoration Run on 16 November, leading up to a festive musical concert on 17 November. The celebration culminated on 18 November with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Rezang La Memorial, led by the GOC 3 Infantry Divison, in memory of the legendary Major Shaitan Singh, PVC and the 113 martyrs of 13 Kumaon in the battle of Rezang La. A special outreach initiative was undertaken to felicitate the families of the fallen heroes, acknowledging their immense strength and quiet resilience. A commemorative function, scheduled on the day, was joined by the chief guest, along with serving army officials, veterans, and ex-servicemen. This gathering provided a platform for veterans to share their experiences, fostering a deeper bond and reinforcing the tradition of service and sacrifice. The events were designed to be more than just a ceremony; they were a powerful, evocative narrative celebrating the enduring virtues of duty, courage, and nation-first spirit. This year's observance underscored the profound, inseparable link between the Indian Army, the local communities, and the security of the nation. By collectively remembering its heroes, the event strengthened the trust and cooperation with border communities, ensuring the legacy of Rezang La continues to inspire future generations with the unadulterated essence of Indian military grit.
