123013 GRAND HARBOR HOUSE FIRE

Twenty-five pieces of fire equipment are on the scene of the house fire in Grand Harbor. The fire which broke out in the garage quickly went multi-alarm when fire crews started arriving on the scene. The homeowner was able to save several pairs of his daughter's jeans after he attempted to fight the fire with a garden hose. That lasted until the water line broke from the fire., It then quickly spread to the interior of the home. According to the homeowner the home had hardwood floors throughout and was paneled with over one hundred sheets of maple paneling on the first floor alone.

Firefighters started an interior attack but were forced out of the home when the structure started to collapse. Another problem is the lack of fire hydrants in the area, trucks are shuttling water from as far away as Walden.

Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable along with the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office are on the scene attempting to direct traffic with homeowners returning to the subdivision.

The smoke column at one point could be seen from Conroe.

At 615 crews are still battling flames and protecting neighboring structures.
