"Down 71' The Getaway" - Bone Thugs N' Harmony Drum Cover - Mike Sciulara (Scuzz)

For my third offering, allow me to change things up and serve you Cleveland’s own Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. The song is the “Down ‘71 The Getaway” off of East 1999 Eternal. The correlation to a good chili came simple to me: the meat, beans and standards are there ;).
With the help of Eazy-E, Bone Thugs provide those deep and simplistic, yet undeniably captivating beats that grab you and fill you up. The gentlemen in Bone Thugs serve up vocal patterns and melodies that weren’t on the hip hop menu at that time. The individual flavors of each member spice up the beats on this record differently by way of cadence, tone, urgency, angst and/or flow. It is this combination of flavors that make this record something so fulfilling to listen to, and a flavor thats stands up to this day. That’s the approach I took recording this cover. I wanted to offer something that will undeniably get you moving, but wanted to add my flavor, style and ideas to the pot and see how it tastes. So let me know what you think peeps.
