Episode 1166

Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) is concerned about Minnie (Margot Bryant) when she hasn't lit a fire and wants to stay home on a Sunday. Jerry (Graham Haberfield) has second thoughts about taking the "Shangri-La" out on its maiden voyage and cancels the transport. Bet (Julie Goodyear) impresses Annie (Doris Speed) by accurately predicting everyone's drink orders at opening time. Len (Peter Adamson) asks Ken (Bill Roache) to borrow his friend's trailer to take Jerry's boat out to the reservoir. Albert (Jack Howarth) is upset with Minne over Bobby the Cat leaving his mess in the back yard of No.1. He later upsets her by telling her about Emily and Ernie (Stephen Hancock) showing interest in owning a house in the street but that Alfred Wormold (Ivor Dean) couldn’t evict her as long as she's up to date on the rent which she isn’t. Stan (Bernard Youens), Hilda (Jean Alexander), Ray (Neville Buswell), Jerry, Ken, Alan (Alan Browning) and Lucille (Jennifer Moss) head to the Burmer Reservoir. Lucille christens the boat with champagne and the boat is launched to the strains of "Rule Brittania". All goes well until Stan leans too far and causes it to capsize. As the occupants swim to safety Jerry desperately seeks help to recover his vessel.
