Early this morning Birdsong Marina collapsed from the heavy weight of the snow and Ice. Tragically a couple of shallow drafters lost their boats. Waterbug-01 managed to get clear and they are safe!
I spoke with Bob the owner and my sponsor for this trip this morning as well. He informed me that everyone is ok out there but the dock is a total loss.
I have also been informed that Nashville, TN has a huge number of people out of power. If things are really bad up there I will most likely cut my trip short and return home to birdsong and see if there is anything I can do to help with either our fellow drafters or at the marina. no doubt it's going to take a lot of time and effort to salvage what they can.
Steve from the boat Chillaxin is one of the boats that went down under the collapse.
Let's keep them in our thoughts and prayers. This storm isn't done just yet!
