In Adelboden, the “Unter dem Birg” area is the central starting point for the natural phenomenon of the Engstligen Falls.

In summer, the Engstligen Falls near Adelboden are one of the most spectacular natural experiences in the Bernese Oberland.

Second highest waterfalls in Switzerland: the water plunges a total of 600 meters over two steps.

Lower circular trail: an easy, family-friendly walk takes you from the “Unter dem Birg” valley station directly to the foot of the waterfall in about 30 minutes.

Waterfall ascent: a steep mountain trail carved into the rock leads along the thundering falls up to Engstligenalp (approx. 1.5 to 2 hours, sure-footedness required).

Chäligang via ferrata: Parallel to the waterfall runs a popular via ferrata (difficulty K2), which offers beginners and advanced climbers a close-up experience on the rock. Information is available from the Adelboden Alpine School.

Alpine spectacle (June): Every year at the end of June, the famous Alpine cattle drive takes place, during which over 500 cows are herded up the steep mountain path by the waterfall to Engstligenalp.
