I just received a new 40 cm table loom (that's about 15.75") from Gulas Makine (www.gulasmakine.com) based in Istanbul, Turkey. I am excited to try this out as I travel to medieval events and like to teach weaving skills. So far, as I'm warping it up with its first project, I have a few thoughts on it.
EDIT for my review on Etsy: VERY well-built and sturdy table loom, packaged well.
Pros: folds flat with the project still on, has a great carry handle, has rubber feet on opposite side so it can be carried and set upright like a suitcase for travel purposes. Levers are easy to manipulate and in a nice, central location so either hand can be used. LOVE LOVE LOVE the HUGE weaving area and the sliding beater bar is amazing! Has a decent-sized shed opening to accommodate nearly any boat shuttle.
Cons: The eyes of the flat steel heddles are VERY small. The distance to the lease sticks is pretty far so I have to stretch to retrieve the yarn for threading. Tension knob style makes it difficult to tighten for a good, strong tension. Not sure how or where to put my pattern for easy viewing but working on that. Maybe clips?
