In this vlog, I take on one of the most challenging and rewarding hikes in Rio de Janeiro — Pedra da Gávea 🇧🇷⛰️. Rising 842 meters above sea level, it’s not only one of the highest coastal monoliths in the world but also offers some of the most stunning panoramic views of Rio — from Ipanema and Leblon to Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain.
This hike is famous for its mix of adventure, steep climbs, and breathtaking scenery. It’s not your average walk — parts of the trail require good fitness, confidence with heights, and light climbing skills (scrambling), especially the section known as the Carrasqueira, a short but steep rock face that often needs rope support.
Many locals consider it one of the most technical hikes in Brazil, but the sense of achievement at the summit — standing above the city and ocean — is beyond words. 🌅
