How to Improve Store Bought Pasta Sauce
Ingredients:
1 bottle (24 oz) of tomato-based pasta sauce (any brand)
1 whole head of garlic
2 to 3 cups cherry or grape tomatoes, halved
2 tbsp olive oil
Salt, to taste
1 tsp dried thyme (or more, if desired)
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp red chili flakes (optional)
Instructions:
🟦 1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

🟦 2. Prepare the garlic: Slice off the top of the garlic head to expose the cloves. Place it in a roasting pan.

🟦 3. Add the tomatoes: Arrange the halved cherry tomatoes around the garlic in the pan.

🟦 4. Season and roast: Drizzle everything generously with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and thyme, and roast in the oven for 20 minutes.

🟦 5. Enhance the flavor: Remove the pan from the oven, drizzle the roasted garlic and tomatoes with balsamic vinegar, then return to the oven for another 10 minutes.

🟦 6. Heat the sauce: Pour the store-bought pasta sauce into a saucepan. Rinse the jar with a small amount of water and add it to the pan.

🟦 7. Add the roasted ingredients: Remove the garlic from the pan and let it cool slightly. Add the roasted tomatoes along with all their juices into the sauce. Stir well.

🟦 8. Mash the garlic: Hold the cooled garlic head with a paper towel and squeeze out the softened cloves. Mash them with a fork and stir them into the sauce.

🟦 9. Finish the sauce: Stir in the butter and red chili flakes (if using). Simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

🟦 10. Serve: Toss with your favorite pasta and enjoy!
