ABOUT THE CONCERT
This concert (reduced to an hour for television) — part of the choir's 20th anniversary season — followed the choir's return from a highly successful competitive tour to the Cork International Choral & Dance Festival in Ireland. There, the group made frequent trips to winners' row, winning the Ruth Railton Prize for the most outstanding contribution by a visiting group at the Festival; 2nd place in the Madrigal Choirs category (singing "Il est bel et bon"); and 2nd in the Mixed Choirs category. Composer and arranger Gwyn Arch — whose arrangement of "She moved thro' the fair" was a test piece — singled out the Marionettes as the best performance of his piece at the whole festival.
