Cactus to Clouds to Cactus

After years of planning and training, my good friend Samuel and I finally tied our shoelaces and ascended Mt. San Jacinto (10,834 ft) from the valley floor in Palm Springs, CA (478 ft). 15 miles one way. Most parties attempting this route opt for climbing to the top and then descending via the Aerial Tramway that is available. It is a very arduous trail “route” and the rangers at the station near the summit warn hikers and the like to NOT do the entire loop, as many people have been injured or stranded on trail. But with our years of endurance experience and training, current fitness levels, grit and a little trail masochism, we knew we could go all the way up on foot, and all the way back down on foot. 31.5 miles total.
