Sailing a home built wooden boat in the Caribbean is a different life style from sailing other boats. My problem was a case of rot high up in the mizzen mast. Wood may tend to do that. But there are advantages with wood. Other sailors might have to hire a crane at a boatyard to lower the mast, order a new mast from faraway, or hire specialists to mend it. I can do everything myself without leaving the anchorage. However, it turned out to be not as straight forward as expected.
This 3.part contains the actual repair of the mast, and the lifting.
