Mood untuk membuat biskut raya dah tiba, pejam celik bulan Ramadan dah nak dekat kan. Kuih Mor (Biskut Makmur) adalah antara kuih raya yang paling popular dan seperti satu kemestian untuk membuatnya untuk dihidang di Hari Raya kalau sebelah Sabah, Sarawak, WP Labuan dan juga Brunei lah ceritanya ni. Walaupun pelbagai versi, yang ini kita panggil Kuih Mor! Resepi ni lah yang sudah sebati dibuat sejak kecil. Sedap, tidak melekat dilidah tapi rapuh di mulut. Aromatic, lemak, manis, berkacang semuanya sederhana.

Kuih Mor or Kuih Makmur (respectively) is a traditional Malay cookies made generally from butter/ghee and flour. The Kuih Mor is one of the most popular cookies during Eid especially in East Malaysia and Brunei. Over time, the cookie has become a popular with much more varieties and flavour and also as for a gift in any gatherings. How about to keep a bottle of Kuih Mor on your WFH office desk?
This is the best melt-in-the-mouth Kuih Mor (not kiddinglah!) just like the way I remembered it when I eat them as a kid 😁
Ingredients :
1 kg Flour - toasted (sangai) for minimum 20 minutes (tepung di sangai hingga masak dan terasa ringan)
+- 500 gram melt unsalted Butter and Ghee (mentega dan ghee (Minyak Sapi) yang dicairkan)
2 cups roasted Ground Nuts (goreng kacang tanah dan blend kasar)
3 tsp Baking Powder
A pinch of Salt (Garam)
For Coating : (add as necessary) tambahkan kuantiti jika perlu
1 cup Icing Sugar (sifted) - Gula Icing (di ayak)
1 cup Full Cream Milk Powder (sifted) - Susu tepung penuh krim (di ayak)
Tips:
-Stir Fry (without oil) or toast the flour until light brown and will feel lighter
This method is to remove the moisture from the flour and also to get rid of raw taste of flour. It also increases Kuih Mor's shelf life!
-The amount of butter calls for in the recipe is just an estimate. There's no way to give you the exact amount because it depends on how dry or wet your flour is. You need to add it a bit by bit.
-Icing Sugar and Milk Powder (simple method : if you prefer more sweeter then coat and roll the Kuih Mor generously into Icing Sugar or vice versa) * salutkan tebal2 dengan gula icing kalau nak manis atau pun sebaliknya. Saya lebih suka di salut tebal dengan susu tepung.
Bake in 170c for 20-25 minutes OR until the lower part of Kuih Mor become slightly dark brown
(depends on your oven) *Bakar mestilah cukup masak sehingga di bawahnya ada warna kecoklatan ye
Important Notes :
*Some recipe only use Butter alone, Ghee, Butter+Ghee or even Margerine (of course the taste will be slightly different). It all depends on each individual preference but it's still a Kuih Mor. Biasanya kita buat guna butter sahaja iaitu guna brand 'Golden Churn Butter', memang serius sedap.
Mentega atau Minyak Sapi yang berkualiti tinggi akan membuatkan kuih Mor bertambah sedap
Allergic to peanuts? no worries, just skip that part... It still heavenly tasty! kuih mur tanpa kacang juga boleh, skip saja campuran kacangnya... tetap sedap!
