Physics Nobel Laureate Prof. Sir Andre Geim's keynote speech on "Wonder materials" on November 10, 2025, at the National Taiwan University in Taipei as part of the TAIWAN BRIDGES event series
TAIWAN BRIDGES is facilitated by the International Peace Foundation Network and held across the country at main universities and institutions including Academia Sinica, the National Taiwan University, the National Tsing Hua University, Tamkang University, the National Cheng Kung University, Asia University, China Medical University, the Kuo Huang Yu Foundation, the National Chung Hsing University, the National Taiwan Normal University, Tunghai University and Tzu Chi University.
TAIWAN BRIDGES is co-chaired by Dr. Wen-Chang Chen, President of the Taiwan National University, and Dr. James C. Liao, President of Academia Sinica, while President Dr. Ching-te Lai acts as Taiwan Honorary Chairman of BRIDGES.
31 Nobel Laureates in Peace, Economics, Physics, Chemistry and Medicine are visiting Taiwan to support education and to promote the country as a hub for science, technology, innovation and sustainability.
All events in the TAIWAN BRIDGES series are open and free of charge for the general public, and people interested to attend can register at the local host institutions in Taipei, Taichung, Tainan and Hualien, with the events schedule and more detailed information being available on www.peace-bridges.net.
Over the past decades 52 Nobel Laureates plus 21 other keynote speakers and artists including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Jose Manuel Barroso, Hans Blix, Jackie Chan, Jesse Jackson, Vanessa-Mae, Jessye Norman, Romano Prodi, Oliver Stone and James Wolfensohn participated in the BRIDGES series of over 900 events in Japan and Korea and in ASEAN host countries such as Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia and Laos, reaching an audience of 250,000 participants.
BRIDGES in Asia has not been designed as a one-time event, but is a continuing process of synergies with Nobel Laureates building long-term bridges in Asia. They have since then returned on a regular basis, starting joint research programs with universities and schools to continuously enhance education in Asia which will, in the long-term, contribute to peace, development and prosperity in the region.
